The Success Center is the result of a collaborative effort in 1990 between the towns of Lansing, Calumet City, Burnham, and Lynwood to battle the growing influences of drugs, alcohol, gangs, and violence on the children of their communities. Over the past 19 years, The Success Center has broadened its focus to assess and meet a variety of needs to improve the lives of families who reside in the South Suburbs. Since inception, The Success Center has worked in tandem with neighboring school districts, offering programs that raise self-esteem, provide alternatives to gangs and drugs, develop essential life skills, and improve academic achievement. Currently, The Success Center offers the following services: counseling, parenting classes, parent support group, anger management classes, Living Drug Free program for youth, Family Centered Services, and Teen REACH. These programs are funded by Illinois Department of Human Services, the Village of Lansing, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, as well as through community donations.
The Success Center values cultural diversity, respects individual rights, and understands relationships are of central importance in human lives. Our primary mission is to offer strength based affordable programs designed to provide prevention, education, support, and counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups. The Success Center is community based and values collaboration with other community agencies.
